Braden Swab
I’m an Owner’s Project Management Consultant specializing in the design and construction of non-profit and community-focused spaces. With experience in the Western Canadian AEC industry and years of leadership within a multi-national charitable organization, I bring both technical expertise and a practical understanding of the challenges mission-driven organizations face. I help clients steward their resources wisely, navigate complexity with confidence, and deliver construction projects that serve both immediate needs and long-term mission.
My Story
I started my career with a simple but lasting interest: helping good ideas become real places that serve people well.
After studying Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary, I became a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and later earned my Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. My technical background gave me a strong foundation in problem-solving, planning, coordination, and construction.
Over time, I realized that the projects I cared about most were not just technically challenging. They were mission-driven.
Much of that perspective was shaped through my work with EMI Canada, where I have helped lead interdisciplinary teams serving non-profit, ministry, and community-focused organizations. That work has taken me through visioning, needs assessments, master planning, concept design, stakeholder conversations, and the early decisions that shape whether a project is truly aligned with an organization’s mission.
I also got a firsthand look at the realities non-profits face: limited resources, busy leaders, complex decisions, board accountability, donor expectations, and the pressure to steward every dollar wisely.
Alongside that work, I have managed construction projects in the Alberta market, including camps, community facilities, and non-profit spaces. Those projects reinforced something I had already seen many times: a successful building project is not just about drawings, budgets, schedules, and contracts.
Successful projects create spaces that strengthen communities, support people, and help organizations fulfill their mission for years to come.
That is why I started Tree Stream Consulting. Tree Stream exists to provide mission-driven project management for organizations that are building, renovating, or expanding spaces that matter. I help leaders define the right project, align stakeholders, plan realistically, manage risk, coordinate the project team, and protect the organization’s mission through each stage of the work.
Buildings matter, but the real impact is in the lives and communities they support. My goal is not simply to help organizations complete a project. It is to partner with good people to make the world a better place for everyone.
